A short let is neither a hotel stay nor a tenancy. It sits between the two, and the questions that decide whether one suits you are practical ones.

Minimum stay is usually one month. In London that is a legal threshold rather than a house rule: letting a residential property for short periods is limited to 90 nights in a calendar year without planning permission, and individual buildings often impose stricter conditions of their own.

Beyond that, the things worth establishing before you book are whether the property is furnished and equipped to a standard you can simply walk into; how housekeeping and linen are handled, and how often; what is included in the rent and what is billed separately; whether the building permits short occupancy at all; and what is required of you at the point of booking.
